Lucas: Road To Recovery
Posted Aug 3, 2006
Trimane Goddard missed spring ball with a foot injury, joining a fairly deep talent pool that watched at least part of the spring from the sidelines. Goddard, Jacoby Watkins, and Durell Mapp were gone from the defense (and were eventually joined by Jordan Hemby), the absence of Ben Lemming and Brian Chacos created a very thin offensive line, and Nick Starcevic was felled by an appendectomy. Add linebacker Larry Edwards, who sat out most of the spring, and almost a third of Carolina's potential opening day starting lineup was off the field this spring.
