Gary Payton told stories about his childhood and his time on the Seattle Supersonics for a Players’ Tribune piece that published on Thursday. One of the best stories he included was about the first time he faced fellow Hall of Famer Michael Jordan as a rookie and made the mistake of talking trash. At that time in 1990, as Payton explains, Jordan wasn’t a legend yet.
