Getting another year out of Julius Peppers could be vital for Panthers

Should 38-year-old retire, the Panthers would lose one of their best pass rushers and a key team leader. If Peppers returns, it likely would come at a bargain deal such as the one-year, $4.25 million contract -- including incentives earned -- he signed last offseason. That’s $10 million or more less than the average salary of the league's top six defensive ends. (ESPN.com)
