Tar Heels Today: Berry's kind gesture, Hollins heads to the Super Bowl, recruiting notes, & more
Posted Jan 29, 2018
Joel Berry makes a young fan's day, Roy Williams does not make a scheduled recruiting trip, Chase Rice performs for NHL fans, Wayne Ellington is hot for the Heat, Sunday's UNC results and more in Tar Heels Today.
Sunday's News & Notes:
One bright note from Saturday: 8-year-old Lane Christensen made the trip with his parents all the way from Omaha, Nebraska to see his favorite player, Joel Berry. Berry took a moment before the game to shake the young fan's hand, and Tar Heel Illustrated captured the moment.
THI's photographer also posted some great pictures to his Twitter account of recruits and alumni in attendance along with shots of legendary players from the 1967, 68, and 69 UNC teams who were celebrating their 50-year reunion.
Wayne Ellington continued his outstanding year with the Miami Heat on Saturday, sinking his career-best 150th 3-pointer of the season in a win over the Charlotte Hornets.
Former UNC linebacker Chase Rice, now a country music star, performed during the pre-game ceremonies of Sunday's NHL All-Star game.
On the basketball recruiting front, Roy Williams did not make his scheduled trip to Cleveland to see 2019 PF Alonzo Gaffney on Sunday. I imagine he's more focused on his current team at the moment.

Men's Tennis beat Michigan, 4-2
