UNC's title dreams stall in 8th inning

The eighth inning presented North Carolina with so much reason for hope and then, in a cruel twist of fate, turned quickly into the Tar Heels' demise. Failing to capitalize in the top half of the eighth inning, North Carolina failed to make a routine play to get out of a jam, and the Beavers pushed the go-ahead and eventual winning run across in their 3-2 victory that gave Oregon State its second-ever national title in any sport.
