Heels, Beavers unfamiliar foes
Posted Jun 24, 2006
Oregon State and UNC never have played each other in baseball, and now they'll compete for their sport's biggest prize in a best-of-three series. The Beavers traveled almost 1,400 miles from the West Coast, and the Tar Heels have met them near the middle after about a 1,000-mile trek from the East Coast. The teams, both seeking their first NCAA baseball championship, are an unlikely pair in a sport that has been dominated by tradition.
