Roy Williams knew. His players knew, as well as everyone else who has spent time watching North Carolina this season. Any hopes of a deep postseason run in March would begin and end on the defensive end. The Tar Heels entered March ranked 58th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, which represented the worst efficiency rating of the Williams era. (Inside Carolina)
