Hot-hitting Tar Heels poised to be Super

North Carolina baseball coach Mike Fox won’t jinx his team by placing it in next weekend’s NCAA tournament super regional already. But only a monumental collapse will deny the Tar Heels their first trip there in three years. Their victory over Winthrop sets up this scenario: Winthrop plays UNC Wilmington today in a battle of depleted pitching staffs. The winner of that game would have to beat the Tar Heels twice to advance. It’s not likely.
