Meet the Americans: World Cup 2006: Gregg Berhalter

Gregg Berhalter joined the World Cup team on Thursday after the Americans learned that Cory Gibbs injured his right knee during their exhibition May 23 against Morocco. Berhalter, 32, started 57 games in three years at North Carolina, was a two-time All-America and played with World Cup teammate Eddie Pope. He skipped his senior season with the Tar Heels to join Dutch second-division team FC Zwolle.
