North Carolina made its second strike of the 2007 football recruiting year yesterday, receiving a commitment from Jonathan Smith, a linebacker from Durham. Smith is a 6-3, 200-pound junior at Hillside High School where he plays for Coach Ray Harrison. Nebraska also offered Smith a scholarship after its coaches watched a highlight tape of Smith's play that Harrison put together.
