Finding a way to play: Tar Heels, Demon Deacons take non-league route to form matchup

When North Carolina and Wake Forest meet Friday, it’s a matter of needing to make the most of this matchup. After all, it doesn’t happen that often any more. To make this game happen, the teams had to use one of their four non-conference slots on the schedule. It’s the only non-league game nationally this season between two conference opponents.
