Kenny Smith honed his talent on the playgrounds and gyms in New York City, at a time when the country’s largest city was churning out all-star caliber point guards seemingly on a daily basis. “There's hasn't been a day in my life since I was 9 years old that I haven't touched a basketball or done something connected with basketball,'' Smith said in 1982.
