Jesse Holley honors late grandma on the field
Posted Nov 18, 2005
Just before this season began, the Jesse Holley added a step to his pregame ritual that he never wanted. Yvonne Holley, his grandmother and the woman who raised him, died of cancer at age 61 two days before UNC's season-opening game at Georgia Tech. Now, Holley carries a photo of her and puts it in his locker. He talks to her before taking the field, asking her to pray for him and his teammates, making sure she has on her UNC shirt, reminding her when opening kickoff is because of her tendency to be late.
