Tar Heel Firsts: UNC’s first NFL Draft pick

Long before Charlie Heck and Jason Strowbridge were drafted this year, the first Tar Heel was selected way back in 1938. Andy Bershak was born and raised in Clarion, Pennsylvania but came to Chapel Hill to attend college at UNC. By the time his career ended, he would become one of just a select few Tar Heel football players to have his number retired.
