Anatomy of a Return

Brandon Tate's game-opening 96-yard kickoff return against Utah didn't begin at the 4-yard-line. It actually began several days earlier when special teams coordinator Andre Powell began to juggle his kickoff return team. Mike Mason, the usual kickoff return man, was on limited special teams duty because of a shoulder injury. His replacement was easy: Tate had been a revelation on punt returns.
