Countdown to Kickoff: Return to Rude
Posted Aug 16, 2005
The Tar Heel secondary is supposed to be Rude. Since the days of Jimmy Hitchcock and Bracey Walker in the early 1990s and later Omar Brown, Dre' Bly, and Robert Williams, the defensive backs have been known as the "Rude Boyz," a moniker several former Tar Heels (including Hitchcock) take credit for creating. At the conclusion of every practice, the Carolina DBs still shout, "Rude Boyz!" before heading back to the Kenan Football Center.
