Tar Heel History: Rivalry on Parade

By 1949, the Beat Dook Parade was an established tradition at North Carolina. The event featured student-constructed floats mostly featuring sometimes creative, sometimes crude jabs at Duke. It gave students an opportunity to publicly thumb their nose at their rival and let them know just what they thought of the Blue Devils in no uncertain terms. (Inside Carolina)
