Ted Williams baseball, used while he was in UNC's Navy Pre-Flight School, on view in Wilson Library

Ted Williams is remembered as one of the towering greats of baseball. He didn’t have a great game on a certain day at UNC in 1943, but he gave teenage fan John Boring a great gift that Boring has passed on to the University Libraries. Williams was in Chapel Hill with his Red Sox teammate Johnny Pesky as cadets in the Navy Pre-Flight School. (UNC.edu)
