Posted Jan 8, 2009
UNC sophomores B.J. Phillips and Zack Handerson will apply for career-ending medical hardships. Phillips, a tight end who hails from Columbia, S.C., suffered a hip injury. He arrived at UNC as a quarterback, redshirted in 2006, and before switched to tight end in 2007 -- a season which was cut short for him by a broken collarbone. Handerson, an offensive tackle from Jacksonville, FL, sustained injuries to his shoulder and both ankles.
