That Time UNC Football Played on Christmas Day

The only time a UNC football or basketball team ever played a game on Christmas Day was in 1982, when the football Tar Heels upset No. 8 Texas to win the 49th Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. A standalone game broadcast by CBS, the game-time wind chill temperature was 12 degrees with the Tar Heels facing the 8th-ranked Longhorns in their home state. (TarHeel247)
