Doug Moe was ahead of his time. He’d followed his friend Larry Brown to Denver, the frumpy ying to Brown’s structured yang, as a Nuggets assistant during the dying embers of the ABA. When Moe took over as the Nuggets’ head coach for Donnie Walsh, he weaponized altitude, preaching a high-tempo offense with constant motion and no set plays.
