Mariners likely to take Dustin Ackley with No. 2 pick
Posted Jun 9, 2009
The consensus on Dustin Ackley is just as strong as that of Stephen Strasburg: He is unquestionably the best bat available in a draft that is rated strong in pitching, but fairly weak in offense. The left-handed-hitting junior, whose playing time in the outfield was limited as he recovered from Tommy John surgery a year ago, is hitting .412 for the College World Series-bound Tar Heels, with 22 homers and 70 runs batted in.
