Kevin Tangney's 89th-minute header snapped a scoreless tie and lifted No. 4 Maryland past No. 2 North Carolina, 1-0, Friday in a meeting of Atlantic Coast Conference leaders at Ludwig Field. The Terrapins improved to 5-1-1 and 2-0-1 in the ACC with the victory, while the Tar Heels dropped to 5-1-1 and 2-1-0 in league action with their first loss of the season.
