N.C. State can’t save year, but a win would make the winter bearable

It was only a year ago that Tom O’Brien proclaimed State as the best program in North Carolina after handing the Tar Heels a 41-10 humiliation at Kenan Stadium that completed a four-game sweep of its in-state rivals. They’re words that still ring in the ears of coach Butch Davis and his players. Not only can the Tar Heels finally silence them, but they can also add a little fuel to the fire by staking claim to a “state championship” of their own.
