Butch Davis opened Thursday's press conference by restating how excited the Tar Heels were to be headed to the Meineke Car Care Bowl for the second straight season and for the third time in the past five years. Even though it looked like UNC could end up in the Gator Bowl a few weeks ago, a regular season-ending loss to N.C. State and the retirement of Florida State coach Bobby Bowden knocked the Tar Heels down in the bowl pecking order.
