When North Carolina’s six NFL Draft-eligible juniors announced their intentions to return for 2010 on Monday, the off-season hype machine cranked up earlier than normal with talk of a 10-win season and UNC’s first conference championship in nearly three decades. It didn’t take Butch Davis long after his team’s 19-17 loss to Pittsburgh in the Meineke Car Care Bowl to turn his attention to the 2010 season. Minutes, actually.
