Tar Heels add defender, lose a tight end
Posted Feb 3, 2010
North Carolina and Duke added defensive linemen to their football-recruiting classes yesterday before today's start of the NCAA's signing period, but UNC's class also took a hit with the loss of a commitment. The Tar Heels added Quinton Alton, a 6-6, 250-pound senior from Memphis, Tenn., and Hillcrest High School. Alex Smith, a tight end from Cincinnati, has withdrawn his commitment and said yesterday that he will sign with Kentucky, leaving the class at 19 members.
