Tar Heels coach Butch Davis said before, during and after spring practice that senior T.J. Yates is his starting quarterback. The problem is, freshman Bryn Renner outplayed Yates on national television in the Tar Heels' spring game. With 19 starters back from a team that won eight games, UNC is poised for a big season in Davis' fourth year in Chapel Hill but not without improved QB play.
