Over breakfast at the Velvet Cloak Inn in Raleigh, the late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner set his friend Gregory Poole Jr. into action. "I want to bring the Yankees to Chapel Hill," Poole, a prominent Raleigh construction equipment dealer, said Steinbrenner told him. "And I want you to help me get it done." (Charlotte Observer)
