Certainly untested in real game situations, Bryn Renner yields experience to T.J. Yates. Thus Butch Davis has announced the latter as his No. 1 QB to start the season. But if Yates continues to exhibit the “yips” in the pocket, as he did in several games last season – including late in the fourth quarter of Carolina’s 19-17 loss to Pittsburgh in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, look for Davis to quickly look in Renner’s direction.
