The Clemson men's basketball squad arrived in Chapel Hill on a mission to erase their record of futility in this city against the University of North Carolina basketball team. The Tigers had lost 52 consecutive games against the Tar Heels and had never won in Chapel Hill. From the initial tip, Clemson had complete control of the game; the Tigers raced to a quick lead and had the Tar Heels and their fans backpedaling with their intensity and tremendous defensive pressure.
