UNC football faces inquiry over possible academic violations

North Carolina's football team now is under investigation for possible academic violations, Chancellor Holden Thorp said Thursday night during a news conference at Kenan Stadium. An hour and a half after addressing the football team on the field, Thorp was joined by athletic director Dick Baddour and Coach Butch Davis in announcing that the school had reported the possible violations to the NCAA.
