Inquiry looms as UNC eyes opener

On paper, an 8-5 team that returns 19 starters — including 10 from a defense brimming with NFL prospects — shouldn't have a lot of question marks going into the college football season. But off-the-field problems at No. 18 North Carolina have left coach Butch Davis, his players and Tar Heels' supporters at the point that perhaps nobody knows who will be available for the season opener Saturday in Atlanta against No. 21 LSU.
