Wiederer: Butch Davis should be accountable

During his introductory press conference in Chapel Hill, Butch Davis lauded the Tar Heel football program as a "sleeping giant" and promised to end the slumber. That was back on Nov. 27, 2006. Yet it's worth remembering now mostly because it was a far different Davis who appeared Thursday night at the Kenan Football Center at an urgent press conference called to discuss a growing scandal that has the potential to severely wound the program.
