Depleted Tar Heels now fighting for survival on national stage

This showdown with LSU in the Kickoff Classic on the opening weekend of the college football season was supposed to be UNC’s first step toward establishing itself as a championship contender. At least, that was the plan when Tar Heels coach Butch Davis originally agreed to play the SEC’s Tigers. Now, though, this game is more about survival than anything. (Sporting News)
