Jones' Goal Lifts Tar Heels Past Mustangs

Top-ranked UNC got a goal from junior forward Courtney Jones in the 49th minute and withstood a late onslaught of shots by Cal Poly to defeat the Mustangs 1-0 Friday night at Alex G. Spanos Stadium. Jones scored an unassisted goal, her third tally of the season, at 48:38 of the match for the game-winning tally. UNC improves to 5-0-1 on the season and will play at San Diego State Sunday at 4:30 p.m. EDT.
