Sometimes, a loss can be good

Good riddance. No one likes to lose, certainly no one engaged in a highly competitive pursuit such as playing big-time college basketball. A good loss is like a minor operation – something that happens to somebody else. Yet, North Carolina's 82-80 defeat at home against Maryland on Saturday can be viewed as a positive for a team that needs a dose of toughening and reorientation.
