This will be a reprise of the 1977 NCAA championship game, in which retiring Marquette coach Al McGuire beat the Tar Heels in his final game on the bench. The Warriors, as they were then called, lost to N.C. State in the 1974 title game. Whatever you call them, they’re 36-29 in all NCAA tournament play in 29 appearances. They’re 2-2 against ACC teams.
