UNC Basketball Recruiting Week in Review
Posted Apr 29, 2012
A look back at news and notes from the past week in UNC basketball recruiting.
-Here's a nice evaluation of incoming UNC point guard Marcus Paige.
-Yahoo! Sports put together a nice dunk mix of incoming freshman J.P. Tokoto from a few weeks ago.
-2013 SF Troy Williams will pick between UNC and Kentucky some time between May 1-5 and will announce his decision via Twitter. Here's some footage of Williams and an interview from this weekend's EYBL event in Hampton, Va.
-The UNC coaching staff spent a lot of time this weekend watching 2013 5-star power forward Julius Randle. Here's a great interview with Randle from Inside Carolina and some footage from last week's event in Minneapolis, MN.
-Other recruits watched by UNC over the weekend include 2014 SF Justise Winslow, 2014 SF Justin Jackson, and 2013 SG Allerik Freeman. Here's a little more info on Jackson's recruitment.
-Jalen Lindsey, one of the top small forwards in the 2014 recruiting class, is a life-long UNC fan and Roy Williams has taken notice, although an offer has not yet been made. Here's a nice highlight video of Lindsey in action.
-2014 point guard Joel Berry continues to draw interest from UNC. Here's his sophomore season mix tape and some footage from this weekend's EYBL event in Hampton, Va.
-Five-star 2013 small forward Nick King has a top five of UNC, Texas, Florida, Memphis and Georgetown (in no order).
-2013 center Kennedy Meeks from Charlotte may announce his decision within a couple of weeks.
-2013 center BeeJay Anya still has UNC on his radar, listing the Tar Heels in his top-6.
-Yahoo! Sports looks at incoming freshmen who could potentially start for the Tar Heels.
-Roy Williams has decided in recent years that recruiting one-and-done prospects sometimes just isn't worth it.
-In case you're still interested, one-time UNC recruit Tony Parker committed to UCLA.
-South Carolina transfer Anthony Gill briefly considered UNC but has decided to play at Virginia.
That's it for this week. Please feel free to send us your feedback or questions for next week's recap.
