Butch Davis earns his players’ respect

At precisely 1:30 p.m., the blast of an air horn signaled the start of another football season at UNC. But for Butch Davis, the moment was symbolic. Three years after stepping down as head coach of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, and just weeks after completing chemotherapy treatments for cancer, the 55-year-old was preparing for a regular season. And he was relishing every second.
