UNC Reaches Out to 2014 SG Elijah Stewart

UNC's 2014 basketball recruiting class may not be complete yet. According to Scout.com recruiting analyst Evan Daniels, "North Carolina is among the schools that reached out to ."

Stewart, a 4-star shooting guard from Los Angeles, originally signed with Loyola Marymount in September but he recently asked for and received a release from his Letter of Intent after LMU coach Max Good was fired.

Besides UNC, Stewart is likely to be recruited by numerous schools with available scholarships, such as local Pac-12 programs USC and UCLA. At this point, there's little to be excited about regarding his recruitment. He has not yet received a scholarship offer from , and UNC's coaches are likely at the early stages of the process, speaking with his coaches, gauging his interest level, requesting transcripts, etc.

Still, this new development keeps open the door to landing the much-coveted outside shooter he was looking for UNC's 2014 recruiting class.

There aren't a lot of highlight videos of Stewart available online, but here's a clip of Stewart (wearing red) facing off against Arizona signee Stanley Johnson (wearing white) recently in the state playoffs:
