Secondary motivation: Blur Points and punishment

While UNC associate head coach Vic Koenning uses the threat of extra work to discourage players from taking plays off during practice, he rewards those who stand out with his new system, Blur Points. In Koenning's first year of the rewards program, players' points correspond to their practice performance. Players can earn as many as five points for performing at the top level and can earn as few as one point for poor practices.
