Peter Gammons: After years of adversity, Andrew Miller is a major weapon for O’s in October

had just finished his freshman year at the University of North Carolina in the summer of 2004. He was pitching on a cool night in Chatham against Falmouth. He hit the leadoff batter, Jacoby Ellsbury. Twelve batters later, he was through the fourth inning and had struck out every one of those batters. Miller threw like a grocery cart rolling out of control down a ramp. Arms, legs. He threw hard.
