Basketball helps Wayne Ellington cope with father's murder
Posted Feb 7, 2015
It was 7:45 p.m. in Philadelphia, 4:45 in L.A. The Lakers were 0-5. Wayne Ellington Sr. texted his son before and after all of Wayne Jr.'s games. Often, that first text would begin an extensive digital conversation between them. This time, it didn't. "I texted him," Ellington Jr. said, "but he didn't hit me back, which was weird." They never spoke again.
