Andrew Miller: This Lefty Reliever Specializes in Outs


In 2012, ’s first season as a full-time reliever with the Boston Red Sox, the left-hander dominated left-handed hitters, allowing a paltry .429 on-base-plus slugging percentage. But, like a lot of lefties, he couldn’t manage the same success against right-handed hitters, allowing an .829 OPS. “I made a conscious effort the next year to do a better job against them,” said Miller, who signed with the Yankees in December.
