Bill Guthridge: 'Perfect sidekick to Coach Smith'

The man who never needed the spotlight died Tuesday night in Chapel Hill. Bill Guthridge was an assistant coach at North Carolina under Dean Smith for 30 years and the Tar Heels’ head coach for three. He died in his home at the age of 77 Tuesday night, just months after Smith’s funeral. “He was a perfect sidekick for Coach Smith,” UNC coach Roy Williams said.
