Faraway alumni keep UNC-Duke rivalry alive in fan-friendly bars
Posted Mar 4, 2007
Blue cups spill beer as patrons chant, "Tar...Heels! Tar...Heels!" A few doors down the street, the Blue Devils' anthem blares, signaling tip-off time as fans scream, "Go to hell, Carolina, go to hell." A quick basket brings roars of approval and high-fives from one crowd and moans from the other. This isn't a sports bar on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill or near Duke's East Campus in Durham. They're in suburban Washington.
