Joe Girardi's hunch on Dustin Ackley pays off for Yankees
Posted Sep 14, 2015

Girardi went with the veteran hand of Ackley, instead of exposing Bird to something he had rarely seen. "(Ackley) had had some success off him in the past, and I talked to Greg Bird, he had seen one knuckleballer in his career in the minor leagues," Girardi said.
