Tar Heels’ goals go well beyond Sweet 16

When North Carolina defeated Arkansas to advance to the Sweet 16 last season, there was almost a sense of relief for the Tar Heels. Not a single one of the team’s starters at the time had made it past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. When UNC couldn’t get past No. 1 seed Wisconsin just days later in the regional semifinal, the campaign was still mostly considered a success given that it was the deepest run the program had seen in three years.
