Despite the No. 1 ranking and 12-game winning streak, there always had been a qualifier when talking about this year's North Carolina team: Deep, but young. Talented, but unseasoned. Fast, but inexperienced. And during the Tar Heels' 94-88 loss Saturday at Virginia Tech, they showed why. Despite a late flurry, youthful UNC never could shake the experienced poise that helped Virginia Tech build its advantage in the first place.
